AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones Review

I have a secret (or not so secret) addiction. It is listening to podcasts. I have become about 17 jillion times more productive since discovering the wonderful world of free audio entertainment while I do dishes, laundry and general clutter extermination for my large family. Almost as soon as I began my chummy relationship with podcasts, however, I discovered a problem.

Why I Needed Headphones

Here’s the deal, I read a lot of true crime books (my guilty pleasure) and therefore was drawn to true crime podcasts. The problem? They are not always appropriate for my children to listen to. Or, like, ever appropriate for my children to listen to.

Problem number two? With water running for dishes and the general ruckus a large family can cause, I often couldn’t get the volume on my iPhone up loud enough to listen.

The Quest for the Perfect Headphones

These two problems sent me on the quest for The Perfect Headphones. I knew I wanted wireless (since I have accidentally yanked earbuds out of my ears seven thousand times) I had seen my friend, Autumn from A Whole Story,  post about her AfterShokz Trekz Titanium headphones a few times on Instagram. I messaged her to see if she really loved them as much as she said she did. And yes, as it turns out, she really does love them.

So off to Amazon I went. I have to admit, I was a bit shocked by the $119 price tag. Ouch. But I also knew I didn’t want cheap headphones I would have to replace anytime soon so I pushed the purchase button.

I have now had this Aftershokz Trekz Titanium headphones for almost five months. And guess what? I love them. Period.

What I Love About Trekz Headphones

They are wireless

Need I say more? I love that they don’t get accidentally yanked out. These headphones have paired with my iPhone quickly and easily and I’ve had no issues.

Bone Conduction Technology

There is nothing in my ears. This means my ears are still hearing what the kids are fighting about (is that a pro or a con?) and makes them safer when out walking or running.

AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Cons

Let’s be honest…these are pricey. I am not about to go out and buy each of my kids a pair, but I do love them and want to get a pair for Kalina, my daughter with hearing loss.

Aftershokz headphones fit well with glasses and hearing aids.

If you look closely at these pictures you can see my daughter is wearing the headphones with her hearing aid. Over the ear headphones are uncomfortable with her hearing aid and she obviously can’t wear an earbud in her right ear (with the hearing aid) so these are the perfect compromise!

Vibration Can Be Annoying at Higher Volumes

Because these use vibration, if I turn them up too loud it can vibrate uncomfortably. This is rarely an issue since I usually don’t have them up that loud.
